In response to repeated abuses of patients at psychiatric hospitals, medical personnel and supporters held an emergency rally in Tokyo. A statement was compiled and submitted to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

In this report, Naoto Kita, Executive Director of the Japan Psychiatric Social Workers Association, commented on the repeated abuse of patients at psychiatric hospitals, saying, "Even in hospitals with many problems, the government and other organizations see it as a 'necessary evil.' Hospitals and local communities have come into existence.The problem is not limited to Takiyama Hospital."



Yasuhiro Obata, secretary-general of "Minna Net", which is made up of families of people with mental disorders, said, "If there are no incidents, patients and their families will not be interested in what they are saying, but abuse has occurred at other hospitals. We have to improve,” he said.



After that, we submitted a statement to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, stating that there is a structural problem in the background, and that the government, medical institutions, and the public need to review the psychiatric system from the ground up.
