The Ibukiyama Driveway, which straddles Gifu and Shiga, is a 17-kilometer toll road that connects the base of Mt.
Many tourists visit from spring to autumn, but during winter it is closed due to snow.
Aiming to open the driveway in April, snow removal work has been underway since mid-February, and currently the snow removal is progressing to the 8th station, near an altitude of 1145 meters.
Workers used large machines to break up the snow, which had piled up to three meters at most, and dropped it onto the slopes beside the road.
Mr. Shoji Iwata of the management company said, "There is less snow than usual this year, and the work is progressing as planned. After the opening, I would like you to enjoy the scenery from Mt. Ibuki."
Ibukiyama Driveway is scheduled to open on April 15th.
