Chris Rock has been tight-lipped about the incident, but this weekend he took the blade out of his mouth during a streamed stand-up performance on Netflix titled "Selective outrage."

Rock covered a wide range of topics, but also the expected one: the earplug he received from Will Smith during the ongoing Oscars after making a joke about his wife, Jada-Pinkett Smith.

- You know what people say, they say that "words hurt".

But those who say words hurt have never been punched in the face, said Chris Rock now, according to the BBC.

At the end of his show, he returned to the ear file and explained that what really hurt was having Will Smith's 1991 single "Summertime" on his brain.

But Chris Rock also shared why he never fought back.

- I have parents!

Because I was raised.

And you know what my parents taught me?

Don't fight in front of white people.
