The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has filed an application from Osaka University to request that pre-implantation testing, which examines the chromosomes of fertilized eggs and returns those without abnormalities to the uterus, be carried out as "advanced medical care" that can be used in combination with treatments covered by insurance. It was approved at the expert meeting, and it is expected to be implemented as early as next month.

Other universities have also applied for implementation, and it is believed that there is a possibility that it will spread in the future.

A new pre-implantation testing technique called "PGT-A," which examines the chromosomes of fertilized eggs and returns those without abnormalities to the uterus, is expected to reduce miscarriages. Although it is performed at a medical institution, it is not covered by public insurance, so if the examination is performed, the patient will have to pay for the series of expenses for fertility treatment, which is a big burden.

Regarding this technology, Osaka University's application requesting that the new technology of pre-implantation testing be used in combination with treatment covered by insurance as "advanced medical care" was approved at an expert meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare on the 2nd of this month. I was.

According to Osaka University's plan, in cooperation with three medical institutions in Osaka Prefecture, over the next two years, 153 women, including women who have had repeated miscarriages, will be tested to see if they are still pregnant at the 12th week of pregnancy. We are planning to investigate such things, and it is expected that the inspection will be carried out as early as next month.

Tokushima University has also made a similar application, and it is believed that there is a possibility that it will spread in the future.
