"The age of Françafrique is over" and France is now a "neutral interlocutor" on the continent, Emmanuel Macron said Thursday in Gabon, where he participated in a summit on the protection of tropical forests, at the beginning of a four-day tour of Central Africa.

The French president will travel to DR Congo on Saturday, where tempers are heating up.

Demonstrations broke out in the capital and then in Goma.

France's position against Rwanda, accused of supporting the M23, is difficult to pass on to the Congolese.

The two main candidates unsuccessful in the presidential election in Nigeria both denounced Thursday fraud and the victory of Bola Tinubu, of the ruling party, Atiku Abubakar evoking a "violation of democracy" and Peter Obi a legal action.

Finally, Rwanda is hosting the International Francophone Book Meetings for the second time.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to return famous authors from Africa and Europe.

A rare event in a country where barely 10% of the population speaks French and where this language is now reserved for an elite, since it is not necessary for daily life.
