The Supreme Court has requested that Tetsuya Yamagami, who was indicted for murder and other crimes in the shooting of former Prime Minister Abe, not be transferred to the Osaka Detention Center, arguing that it would interfere with his defense activities. decided to dismiss the attorney's motion.

He will continue to be detained at the Osaka Detention Center.

Defendant Tetsuya Yamagami (42) has been charged with murder and other crimes for shooting former Prime Minister Abe in Nara during the House of Councilors election last July.

The investigation into the series of cases ended last month, and the defendant was transferred from the Nara Nishi Police Station in Nara City to the Osaka Detention Center in Osaka City.

The defendant's lawyer filed a petition to stop the transfer, arguing that ``it would interfere with defense activities such as interviews,'' but the Nara District Court did not approve it. Considering the impact, it is necessary to have a strict security system at the detention facility and its surroundings, and when appearing in court, but it is not possible to secure a sufficient system at facilities and detention centers in Nara Prefecture.

The lawyer filed a special appeal as dissatisfied, but Chief Judge Eriko Watanabe of the 3rd Petty Bench of the Supreme Court decided to dismiss it, and the defendant will continue to be detained at the Osaka Detention Center.
