The Tokyo Fire Department announced that a firefighter in his 20s who works at a fire station in Tokyo had driven a fire engine three times last month with his driver's license expired.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, a deputy firefighter in his 20s who works at the Shakujii Fire Station had his driver's license expired in April last year, but last month he drove a fire engine three times. It means that

He was checking his license with his friend on February 24th and found that it had expired, so he applied on the 27th.

It means he forgot to renew his license.

The deputy fire chief was qualified to drive a fire engine in December last year, so it was not a fire or emergency response on the three occasions he drove.

The Tokyo Fire Department is supposed to check the presence or absence of a driver's license in advance when driving a fire engine, but it did not check the expiration date.

Akira Mitsui, Chief of the Shakujii Fire Station, commented, ``We will strive to prevent recurrence by thoroughly checking the details of the driver's license in the future.''
