Artificial pollination work has begun at a farm in Shoo Town, Okayama Prefecture, where peaches are grown in greenhouses.

Hiroyuki Ishikawa's farm in Katsuo-cho, Okayama Prefecture grows five varieties, including "Hanayome" and "Hakuho."

Ms. Ishikawa and her mother, Ms. Rie, use a tool with a ball of yarn attached to the end of a stick to carefully apply pollen to the pistils of the extremely early-maturing cultivar "Hanayome," which has reached 70% bloom. I had it on.

This artificial pollination work will be done until early March, including other varieties.

Of these, "Hanayome" is about two months earlier than the outdoor variety, and the harvest and shipment will start around the end of April, when the long holidays begin.

Mr. Ishikawa said, "The troubled situation continues, with boiler fuel costs nearly doubling due to soaring crude oil prices, but we will manage it properly so that we can deliver delicious peaches to everyone who looks forward to them every year. I want to."
