It has been 9 days and 1 week since the accident occurred near the Kurushima Strait off the coast of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, where two cargo ships collided and one ship sank.

One crew member is still missing, and the Japan Coast Guard continues to search the surrounding waters by dispatching patrol boats.

On the 2nd of this month, the cargo ship "Seiryu" (716 tons) in Toba City, Mie Prefecture collided with another cargo ship and sank near the Kurushima Straits in the northwest of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.



Three of the five crew members of the "Seiryu" were rescued and survived, but the body of the captain, Sosuke Kitai (63), was found among the sunken ships. Yuki (24) is still missing.



The Coast Guard has been conducting a 24-hour search by dispatching a patrol boat, but it is said that no clues have been found by the 9th, one week after the accident.



The Japan Coast Guard continues to search the surrounding waters and is investigating the cause of the accident by interviewing relevant parties.
