His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, congratulated the Emirates Festival of Literature, which has completed 15 years of its career.
His Highness said in a tweet on his official account, “Today, the Emirates Festival of Literature completes 15 years of creativity, culture, and celebration of the book.
We celebrate cultural events in Dubai in particular, because they reflect the depth of the human being in our society.” His Highness added, “Culture is the evidence of civilization.. Our life is not complete without economic sufficiency, cultural depth, and social cohesion.”
The activities of the 15th session of the festival started yesterday, amid a large crowd of writers, creators, and local and international cultural figures, in the presence of a constellation of visual and written media in the country and abroad, who will participate in the various activities of the festival that will be held at the “InterContinental Dubai Festival City” hotel, and "Mohammed bin Rashid Library", which will continue until the sixth of February, and present the experiences of more than 260 writers, creators and thought leaders from the Arab world and the world, in more than 300 activities covering all fields of literature, arts and culture.

This year, the Emirates Literature Foundation has partnered with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center to develop the “Emirates Literature in Space” program, an interactive educational and cultural program through which astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi harnesses his knowledge and experience with children during his six-month journey. It will be spent aboard the International Space Station, where interactions with Al Neyadi and the two other astronauts participating in the program, Nora Al Matrooshi and Hazzaa Al Mansoori, are catalysts to engage students across the UAE and the region.
