A Jordanian confesses to killing an Egyptian building guard 35 years ago

Yesterday, the Public Prosecutor of Major Crimes, in Jordan, arrested a 63-year-old accused of premeditated murder, which Jordanian security uncovered, although it was committed by the accused when he was 27 years old (that is, 35 years ago).

Investigation sources said that the accused, who was born in 1959 and was just married (in 1987), as he used to steal building materials from buildings under construction, and that when he went to a construction workshop in Amman, and while trying to steal bags of cement from the workshop, the building guard woke up. He is an Egyptian national, and he had only been in Jordan for one week, and since the thief was carrying a firearm, he managed to shoot and hit the guard with two bullets in the head, which led to his immediate death, and he continued stealing bags of cement.

The information indicates that the thief was arrested at the time, but he confessed to the theft and did not confess to having committed the murder. Also, no forensic evidence was available at the time of the crime, as a result of the lack of scientific development in detecting the crime as it is now.

After a team specialized in following up on unknown crimes and re-examining the case file, the accused was brought in, and during interrogation he confessed to having committed the crime and was referred to the Public Prosecutor for Major Crimes.
