During the final of the Eurovision song contest in spring 2022, the organizer EBU announced that irregular patterns had been detected in the voting of the second semi-final as well as the general rep for the final from votes in Romania, San Marino, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Georgia and Poland.

It was therefore decided to delete these countries' jury votes in both the second semi-final and Saturday's final.

Now the EBU writes in a press release that only viewers will be allowed to vote in both Eurovision semi-finals.

Viewers from non-participating countries will also be able to vote online.

Viewers from non-participating countries will together have as much power over the result as the equivalent of one of the participating countries.

In the final, as before, viewer votes will be combined with jury votes to decide who wins the competition.

Last year, the audience's favorite Ukraine won the competition ahead of the jury's favorite Great Britain.

Despite this, the competition is held in Great Britain due to the war in Ukraine.
