Moussa Faki Mahamat says it is for the credibility and coherence of the AU that countries where unconstitutional power grabs are suspended from the organization.
PSC member countries failed to reach agreement on the matter at their last meeting, with Chad's suspension requiring a two-thirds majority of the institutional body.
"The decision has not yet been taken", he recalls, but "if tomorrow the Peace and Security Council decides not to suspend Chad, I will fully apply the decisions of this program".
N'Djamena, for his part, accuses Moussa Faki Mahamat of using his post as president of the AU Commission to prepare a future candidacy for the Chadian presidency.
"I think it's a political quarrel in which they want to drag me", he laments, "in any case, I will not fall into this trap".
If he considers that "any Chadian citizen who meets the conditions may at one time or another have ambitions or a project for his country", he declares that he is "candidate for nothing".
He also returns to the violence in the DRC and affirms that a political solution is needed.
While the Congolese government refuses to negotiate with the M23 group, Moussa Faki Mahamat is in favor of the most inclusive discussions possible.
