A bird flu virus was detected in a dead duck, and it was found that one pelican was newly infected at the closed theme park "Adventure World" in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture.

According to Wakayama Prefecture, one white pelican bred at "Adventure World" was found to be infected with bird flu.

When the prefecture examined a total of five white pelicans with symptoms such as anorexia, it was found that the "H5 type" avian influenza virus was detected from one of them on the 15th.

On November 10, several dead ducks were found at this theme park, and the avian influenza virus was detected. After conducting disinfection work, it was announced that the measures were completed on November 12.

According to the prefecture, since pelicans are not poultry, they are not legally subject to disposal, but at the discretion of the theme park, the pelicans with symptoms were disposed of.

The pelican was kept in the same space as the ducks that were previously confirmed to be infected, so the theme park will continue to be closed for the time being while carefully observing the health conditions of other birds.
