Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren was born 115 years ago. Her first heroine - Pippi Longstocking - appeared thanks to the author's little daughter. She asked her mother to tell a story about a girl with an unusual name. Lindgren later wrote many children's books, including those about Malysh and Carlson. It was this series that brought Lindgren the love of Soviet children, who read with pleasure about the adventures of "a man in the prime of life." Today, Lindgren's novels and stories have been translated into more than 95 languages.
