She is a girl with a cute smile.
Yuan, who was born small, is growing little by little while being watched over by her mother and father.

Yasuaki was born weighing 704 grams.
Hana-chan was born at 470 grams.
This month's photo exhibition "Small Born Baby" is being held in Osaka City.
On display are 28 low birth weight babies born under 2500 grams.
It is the appearance when I was just born and the growth process until now.
Approximately 1 in 10 babies born each year are low birth weight babies.

Yuan Anmiya is one of them.
Four years ago in April, Yuan was born weighing 576 grams.
Her mother, Yukako Anmiya, 40, was hospitalized due to her chronic illness, and she underwent an emergency caesarean section at 25 weeks' gestation.
Yuan was a long-awaited baby who was conceived after 8 years of fertility treatment.
With her life in danger, will her daughter grow up smoothly?
Seeing her child hooked up to a ventilator and many other medical devices, Anmiya said she was overwhelmed with anxiety.
It was her husband, Yoshihiro (42), who gave her strength during the difficult situation.

“I felt guilty and felt that it was my fault. In such a situation, my husband looked at my daughter in the incubator and said how cute she was, and he kept squinting his eyes at my daughter. I thought I would be able to do my best from now on because I have someone who can help me."
Yuan overcame treatment for sepsis and surgery for retinopathy of prematurity, grew to 4050 grams, and was discharged from the hospital at 5 months old.
Yuan-chan keeps growing
After leaving the hospital, Yuan couldn't turn over or crawl.
For this reason, most of the 1-year-old pages in the maternal and child handbook are left blank.
Low birth weight babies are born before they are fully grown in the mother's womb, so they often develop slowly.
Yukako was particularly concerned about the item "Can you walk by yourself?"
Even so, Yuan continued to grow little by little.
Yuan-chan who has increased her weight and grown up.
She is Yuan who has become able to hold and stand.
Mr. and Mrs. Anmiya kept up with her Yuan's pace and continued to practice walking in the nearby park and outside.
And last June.
At the park she went out with her family as usual.
Anmiya-san gently let go of her hand, and Yuan-chan started walking alone.
3 years and 2 months.
It was a long awaited moment.
Anmiya and her husband watched Yuan's back as she started walking.
Tears flowed naturally.

"It's what I've always wanted to see, and what I've been waiting for for so long. Seeing my daughter walking around so happy, seeing her, I'm sure she wanted to walk like this by herself, too." I was moved."

"I was really happy because I was worried about when I would start walking."
Yuan goes to a rehabilitation facility twice a month.
Due to retinopathy of prematurity, her visual acuity is about 0.1 even with glasses.
She is not very good at fine work with her hands, but little by little she is able to do more as she enjoys and repeats the practice.
When Yuan was born, Mr. Anmiya blamed himself, saying, "I'm sorry that she was born small."
As she watched Yuan-chan grow, she said that her feelings gradually changed.
Yukako:
"My daughter shows me a positive smile, so I'm not just sorry, but from the bottom of my heart, I'm grateful that she was born. At first, I only thought that there were many things I couldn't do compared to the other children around me. But when I see him happily spending his days, instead of just focusing on what he can't do, I'm happy that I've become able to do even the smallest things."
Small growth, great joy
I thought that my experience could serve as a guidepost for parents who are struggling with childcare, so I decided to participate in the photo exhibition of Kirari Play Circle, which is made up of other parents of low birth weight babies.
This is a photo exhibition with the hope that by seeing the growth of a small baby, it will be a hope for people who will raise children in the future.
The photo that Anmiya chose is a smiling Yuan-chan standing alone and firmly planting her feet on the ground.
On her birthday in April, she was photographed under the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Yuan still goes to the hospital regularly.
Many babies born small still need medical care after being discharged from the hospital, and the reality is that parents and children are facing challenges on a daily basis.
She wants the society to be close to the baby and her family.
