The story of the firefighters who went in first and came out last was revealed.

On the 10th, SBS 'The Story of Biting the Tail' (hereinafter 'Kkokomu'), lit up the fire accident in Hongje-dong with the subtitle 'First In, Last Out'.

On March 4, 2001, a fire report was received from the Rescue Team of the Western Fire Station in Seoul.

However, this was a false report.

Another fire report was received by the rescue team who was about to return.

Firefighters rushed to Hongje-dong, where the fire was reported.

We were dispatched two minutes earlier than usual due to a misidentification report, but the road to the fire site was blocked by illegally parked vehicles, making it difficult to enter further.

In the end, the crew ran a distance of 150m carrying 12 fire-fighting lakes with equipment weighing more than 20kg.

However, the fire scene has already reached its peak.

While the fire was being quickly put out, the aunt, the owner of the house where the fire broke out, begged to be rescued by saying that her son was inside.

The crew immediately rushed to the scene without any delay and searched for her aunt's son.

However, no trace of a human was found.

At the desperate cry of her aunt to save her son, the crew launched another search.

And firefighter Kwon Young-cheol searched the basement and came out.

But at that moment, the building collapsed in an instant with a huge roar.

As a result, a total of 7 people were buried, including those who entered the interior for the search and those who were in front of the front door.

Even if they call like crazy, there is no answer, and the crew starts a full-scale rescue operation.

And more than 250 firefighters from all over Seoul gathered to save their colleagues with the heart of "I save the lives of my colleagues with my own hands."

In a situation where even heavy equipment could not be brought in, what the crew could do was drill holes in the wreckage with a pickaxe and hammer.

They were so focused on the rescue operation that they sweated even in sub-zero weather.

And after 50 minutes of being buried, Kim Cheol-hong, who was standing in front of the front door, was rescued.

But the crew didn't even have time to rejoice or check the condition of their comrades.

He concentrated again to save the rest of his teammates.

I thought that I would have evacuated to the boiler room, so I started drilling three holes after estimating the location of the boiler room, and at some point the way down to the basement was secured.

Firefighter Lee Seung-gi was rescued for the second time after being buried in 3 hours and 23 minutes while crawling on the floor desperately looking for colleagues.

Then, one after another, he found his comrades, and after 3 hours and 46 minutes of fighting, he succeeded in rescuing all of them.

The desire to go to the hospital together was like a chimney, but the crew remained the same and continued the rescue operation.

It was because they could not find the son of the first claimant, the landlord.

But then, news came that I didn't want to believe.

News of the deaths of firefighters followed one after another.

Even though it was March, the snow falling from the sky took the place of the hearts of the remaining members.

And the news that followed was even more shocking.

During the fire investigator's investigation into the fire, it was confirmed that the owner's son was not present at the scene of the fire.

The fire investigator sat down on the spot and wept bitterly.

The shocking news did not end there.

The cause of the fire was found to be arson, and the culprit was the owner's son.

Hearing this news, the field crew sat down in dismay.

In the end, six firefighters died in the fire, and their colleagues had no choice but to let them go in tears.

And at that time, firefighter Lee Seong-chon, who carried out rescue work at the scene, said, "Don't be a firefighter there, do a comfortable and safe job."

From firefighter Park Jun-woo, who was about to get married a week later, to firefighter Kim Ki-seok, who considered his job as a priesthood, risking his life to save someone's life. left

In front of their death, actor Choi Young-jun shed tears of sadness, saying, "Everyone is so young. How many things did they want to do?"

After the Hongje-dong fire incident, shocking stories were revealed to the world.

Firefighter Kwon Young-cheol, who had no choice but to go to the scene the day after the Hongje-dong fire incident due to a lack of manpower, even when he lost his colleagues in front of him and was injured.

At that time, the number of citizens each firefighter was responsible for was 2,000, which was ten times that of the United States, where 208 people were responsible.

A firefighter who had to claim compensation after treatment at his own expense as there was no fire hospital.

In particular, they could not claim compensation for skin grafts due to burns.

And the firefighters at that time jumped into the fire wearing waterproof suits, not fire suits.

With a price difference of 15 times, firefighters were given waterproof suits instead of fire suits.

Until then, the treatment of firefighters was unimaginable.

Fortunately, a lot of things have improved now.

The firefighters said, "The development of firefighting is divided into before and after Hongje-dong."

Many things have been improved by the sacrifice of many people.

On this day's broadcast, an interview with firefighter Lee Seung-gi, a survivor who miraculously survived, was released.

He said, "I feel sorry and responsible for my colleagues," he said. "If I ever meet my colleagues after I leave this world, I want to say hello to you. I'm looking forward to that."

He also said, "Because I'm a firefighter," he said, "If the situation of that day happens again, he will go in without any worries."

The most commonly used signals at firefighting sites are 46 for Alright and 47 for Alright. In response, Firefighter Lee Seong-chon said he wanted to receive a 47 response from at least one of his six deceased colleagues.

And he got a tattoo over the wounds from the Hongje-dong fire accident.

First In, Last Out.

You go in first and come out last.

Living with such phrases engraved on the body.

The story friends were very impressed and showed respect for their sense of duty.

And for the firefighters who save citizens, it made me think about what we can do to become citizens who save them.
