Report: Twitter plans to increase the monthly subscription price to $ 19.99

The American website, The Verge, which specializes in technology news, revealed Twitter's intention to increase the price of the optional monthly subscription to $19.99, from $4.99 currently, as well as launch new features, including user verification for a fee.

Today, Bloomberg news agency reported that the plan stipulates that authenticated users will have 90 days to register or lose the blue verification mark, according to the report, which conveyed this information from informed sources, whose names were not mentioned.

The Verge stated that the employees working on the project were informed that they would be fired if they did not meet the deadline for launching it on November 7.

After the report, investor Jason Calacanis polled Twitter users about how much they'd spend to get the certification mark, giving them options ranging from "I won't pay" to $15 per month.

Twitter's new owner, Elon Musk, said it was "interesting", after 77.8 percent of people who took part in the survey answered that they would not pay for the verification tag.

A Twitter spokesperson did not respond to The Verge's request for comment on the report.
