Kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa officially succeeded to the name "Ichikawa Danjuro XIII" on the night of the 31st, and the famous Kabuki "Danjuro" was revived for the first time in nine years.

``Ichikawa Danjuro'' has been a major name since the Edo period, and has been a driving force in the Kabuki world for generations, starting with the first generation who established the heroic and dynamic ``Aragoto'', and the 7th generation establishing ``Kabuki Juhachiban''. .



Mr. Ebizo, who succeeds to the name of the thirteenth generation, attended a special performance held at the Kabukiza Theater in Tokyo on the night of the 31st, an event to pray for the success of the succession performance.



At the ceremony, more than 100 people, including Kabuki actors and people involved in the stage, gathered to read out the program of the performance.



Then, Ichikawa Ebizo-aka Danjuro Ichikawa said, "I am determined to work hard every day so that I can become a Danjuro who lives in Kabuki."

In addition, the eldest son Shingen Horikoshi (9) also succeeded the name of Shinnosuke Ichikawa 8th generation and greeted cheerfully, "Thank you very much for your support."

And the audience was also together and everyone tightened their hands.



It will be the first time in nine years since the death of the 12th Danjuro that the name of Danjuro will be revived in the Kabuki world.



After that, the 18th kabuki performance "Kanjincho" was performed, and Danjuro performed with two Living National Treasures, Nizaemon Kataoka and Tamasaburo Bando, and played the role of Benkei for the first time as the XIII.



The special performance will be held until November 1st, and the succession performance will start on the 7th.
