A study by the Ministry of the Interior published last Friday indicates that the inhabitants of Aveyron are the most likely to engage in animal abuse.

The figures gathered by the authors of the report showed that the rate in 2021 reached 5.2 per 10,000 inhabitants in the Department.

The rural sectors are the most affected by the phenomenon, which could be explained by the inclusion of livestock among the animals victims of ill-treatment.

These are in fact, by definition, virtually absent from urban areas.

There are also a large number of pets in the less urban departments.

The ministerial study specifies that physical violence is the attack of which animals are most often victims, ahead of poor living conditions.

Cats and dogs are the species most targeted by this abuse, the perpetrators of which are men, in 73% of cases and most often aged 30 to 44 years.
