1.5 million titles await you from tomorrow... on the shelves of the Sharjah Book Fair

The exhibition goes beyond the travel of its visitors from the space of books to the tastes of the world's dishes, music and artistic performances.

The activities of the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, organized under the slogan "Word for the World", will start tomorrow, and will continue for 12 days at the Sharjah Expo.

The exhibition hosts intellectuals, writers, publishers, creators, artists, influencers and experimenters from 95 countries around the world, to open to its visitors, adults and children, an opportunity to meet the International Booker Prize campaign, writers of the most famous international films, and stars of art, cinema, poetry and theater.

The exhibition goes beyond the field of travel for its visitors from the space of books and publishers’ platforms, to the tastes of the world’s dishes, their music, their artistic and theatrical performances, and even their clothes and fashion, and their arts and crafts, as it hosts 2,213 publishers from 95 countries (1298 Arab and 915 foreign publishing houses) and organizes 123 artistic shows, presented by 22 participants from eight countries, including six new programs being held for the first time, in addition to more than 30 events dedicated to the most prominent chefs from the region and the world.

The exhibition, which carries the slogan “Word of the World” this year, sends a message, saying: “The word is able to build our future and change our reality, so be loyal to books and keen on their friendship.” It displays 1.5 million books in various languages ​​​​of the world and about all knowledge, sciences and arts.

In order to enhance the presence of children's literature and focus on developing the culture and reading skills of young people and young adults, the exhibition organizes 623 activities for children, ranging from workshops, plays, and entertainment and educational performances, aimed at developing children's scientific and practical skills, with the participation of 45 specialists from 14 countries.

The UAE, Egypt and Lebanon top the list of Arab publishing houses participating in the exhibition, while the most prominent foreign participations were represented by publishers from India, the United Kingdom and Italy, which display their most prominent publications on an area of ​​more than 18,000 square meters.

It also attracts publishing houses from 10 countries participating in the event for the first time: Cuba, Costa Rica, Liberia, the Philippines, Ireland, Malta, Mali, Jamaica, Iceland and Hungary.

Libraries will have their own scene that brings together specialists and librarians, as the exhibition will witness the launch of the second session of the National Library Summit during the sixth and seventh of this month, with the participation of 30 countries, and between the eighth and the 10th of this month, the exhibition is organizing the ninth session of the Sharjah International Library Conference, organized by the Sharjah Authority Book in partnership with the American Library Association.

As part of its accompanying cultural program, the Sharjah International Book Fair will host a group of Emirati writers and writers in a series of sessions and dialogues, including Sultan Al-Amimi, Kholoud Al-Mualla, Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, Saeed Al-Hanki, Hamad bin Sarai, Asma Al-Hammadi and Aisha Al-Shamsi, along with a selection of writers And Arab artists, including: the Libyan Muhammad Al-Naas, the former Moroccan Minister of Culture Muhammad Al-Ash’ari, the Kuwaiti Muhammad Jarallah Al-Sahli, the Egyptian Karim Abdel Aziz, the Egyptian Ahmed Al-Sakka, and others.
