Louvre Abu Dhabi: 10 artists nominated for the Richard Mille Art Prize

Louvre Abu Dhabi and Swiss watch brand Richard Mille today announced the names of 10 artists nominated for the Richard Mille Art Prize: Afra Al Dhaheri, Ayman Zedani, Dana Awartani, Elizabeth Dorazio, Manal Al Dowayan, Rand Abdul Jabbar, Simrin and Mehra Agarwal, Sheikha Al Mazrou and Vikram. The artists were selected by a distinguished jury consisting of five members, most notably His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, a major art collector and patron of the Pompidou Center, the British Museum and Sharjah Art Foundation, and Murad Montazami, art historian and curator of research at Tate Modern in London. It is noteworthy that the international jury received 246 offers from artists residing in the UAE and the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and the members of the jury were nominated for only 10 works.

The performances presented in the framework of the second edition of the exhibition “The Art of Now 2022” received exceptional attention at the national level, as the artworks submitted by artists residing in the UAE alone constituted 79% of the total of these shows, while the rest of those shows - which represent 18% of the total. The total number of performances - from all the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which reflects the volume of continuous growth and development witnessed by this prestigious exhibition and art award.
