At a temple in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture, which is working on a reproduction of a work called "Prince Shotoku Eden" depicting Prince Shotoku's life, some of the paintings are almost completed and will be open to the public next month. .

Kannonshoji Temple in Omihachiman City, which is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, once owned four hanging scrolls, "Illustrated Story of Prince Shotoku," but after selling them about 50 years ago, they went missing. .

After that, it was discovered that it was in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum, so from last year we asked a Buddhist painting artist and a Japanese painter to reproduce the work, and recently two of the four hanging scrolls have been almost completed.

The hanging scroll in the first panel depicts Prince Shotoku when he was born, and also shows him listening to about 10 children at the same time when he was 11 years old. .

The hanging scroll on the second width depicts him riding a horse through the clouds and paying attention to the distant land.

Hendo Okamura, the chief priest of Kannonshoji Temple, said, ``I want you to feel the statue of Prince Shotoku through the painting, which was not conveyed only in words.''

At Kannonshoji Temple, the first painting will be open to the public from next month, and three years later in 2025, five paintings will be displayed, including a creative hanging scroll depicting the legend of Prince Shotoku in Shiga Prefecture. I want to publish it in the temple.
