The public prosecutor of Brive (Corrèze), Emilie Abrantes, gave an update this Wednesday on the investigation into the disappearance of Justine Vayrac, 20 years old.

An individual was taken into custody Tuesday morning in this case.

His custody was extended until Thursday morning.

The opening of a judicial investigation, which will be entrusted to a magistrate from the criminal center of Limoges, will probably also be open on Thursday.

“Searches were carried out at the home and in the vehicle” of the individual placed in police custody, indicated the prosecutor of Brive.

It was noted the presence "of traces of blood in his home, in his room, and in his vehicle, at the level of the gear lever knob" specified the magistrate.

DNA analyzes are in progress.

"In addition, Justine's handbag, containing personal effects, was found charred near the home" of the individual.

Significant resources mobilized

Significant resources were mobilized to find the young woman, with dog teams and a gendarmerie helicopter.

“This afternoon, a search with 80 gendarmes took place.

Due to the presence of several bodies of water near the home of the person placed in police custody, several teams of divers were also mobilized.

A helicopter and a drone with a thermal camera flew over the area again” this Wednesday.

“Contrary to rumours, there was no second person taken into custody, and Justine's phone was not found” further specified the prosecutor of Brive.

Justine Vayrac has been missing since Sunday morning.

This Lotoise had gone to Brive on Saturday evening to meet friends there.

She spent the evening in a bar and then in a nightclub.

After feeling unwell, she went out for some fresh air with the young man in custody, and hasn't given a sign of life since.
