To afford a negative cold cabinet, the association in charge of the new solidarity grocery store for students in Orléans (Loiret) has decided to use crowdfunding.

The equipment, which costs 6,535 euros, will make it possible to offer beneficiaries fresh and frozen products, explains France Bleu Orléans.

The crowdfunding campaign launched by Aesop will end in early December.

34 contributors had already helped finance the refrigerator this Wednesday afternoon by donating a total amount of 5,230 euros, or 80% of the price of the equipment.

Each euro paid by an Internet user results in a contribution of one additional euro by the Centre-Val-de-Loire Region up to 2,000 euros.

Banks have also made donations of up to 500 euros.

The solidarity grocery store should be inaugurated on November 16, before its official opening at the end of the same month.

Officials hope to be able to help 1,300 people.

The objective is to allow the most precarious students to be able to buy food and hygiene products at low prices.

The project was developed in partnership with the Food Bank and Secours Catholique.
