An art collector from Puy-de-Dôme made an incredible discovery at the beginning of October.

During an online auction where he coveted three works, he fell in love with a painting estimated at 100 euros.

By doing some research, the Auvergnat realized that it was a painting by Maliheh Afnan, says La Montagne on Monday.

However, the artist born in Palestine and deceased in the United Kingdom is one of the most famous in the Middle East.

His works have been exhibited in the greatest museums in the world, including the MoMA in New York (USA).

The collector was able to acquire the spotted lot for 450 euros.

A little surprised by the amount, the auctioneer even commented: "Go ahead, it's decorative, it's beautiful" without knowing that the work was really worth much more.

For example, one of the last paintings by Malifeh Afnan was sold for 80,000 dollars, or almost as many euros.

The happy owner of the painting is thinking of putting it back on sale and donating part of the sum to associations for the defense of Iranian women's rights.
