For fear of a break in electricity supply this winter, the regions are beginning to take precautionary measures.

The boss of RTE, manager of the electricity network, spoke about the situation in the Allier department, reports La Montagne on Monday.

He recalled that cuts were possible from this fall and that, in prevention, water from the Rochebut and Prat dams was saved.

“A real asset for the territories”

The hydroelectric dams of the Allier will represent a welcome alternative in the event of a break in the electricity supply.

"You just have to open the valve downstream of the dam for the water to reach the turbine and start producing electricity", explains the director of EDF Hydro in the Loire and Ardèche regions.

With a view to making reserves, the water reservoirs of Rochebut and Prat have therefore been managed with caution since last summer.

"After the drought and with the surge in energy prices, there is an awareness that having these structures that produce 100% renewable energy is a real asset for the territories and for France", underlines the director of RTE.
