"We do not see in the folds of souls as we see things in the room" .. A sentence that summarizes the theatrical work "The Last News", which was presented by the "Zayed Theater for Talents and Youth", within the "Dubai Festival for Youth Theater" on the stage of the Culture and Science symposium the day before yesterday.

The idea of working was based on a game that a woman plays on a daily basis with her husband, because it is the only available means by which she expresses her love and devotion to protecting him. Through painful events, love triumphs over all other feelings.

The show, in which the starring: Inas Ezzat, Khamis Al Yamahi, Yaqoub Al Yasi, Mansour Al Matrooshi, and Amal Hassan lead us to the story of an old woman who lives with her husband in a small house, in which there is a garden that the simple “scenography” brought us details.

The old man comes to a representative from a company where (Saif) her son works, to inform her that he was fired from work due to his continuous absence, then the bad news comes with the arrival of the doctor to tell her that the results of laboratory tests do not allow him to marry his cousin, and then the thief comes to steal the house, on the pretext of debts accumulated on her son.

The coherent text introduces us into the plot of these events, which culminate in the old man's dealing with bad news, one after another, with the loving wife's keenness that her husband does not know what is happening to his house.

Then the writer introduces us to the worlds of the characters on the stage, to deeply explain the levels of human feelings, dealing with love, greed, fraud, envy, and other feelings that we may encounter in daily life.

The coherent text and the successive events supported the director Samir Al Balushi’s presentation of the idea through a quiet “scenography” that fits the simple story that the writer wanted to be primarily human. to the audience through sound and lighting effects.

As for the accompanying music, which was prepared by Ali Al-Amri, it served the events nicely, noting that in the last part, which included the monologue, it overshadowed the voices of the actors.

In the theatrical work, the writer employed personal dialogues and moved from them to the monologue at the conclusion of the work, to demolish the characters he built throughout the duration of the show, which attracted the audience's attention.

Events accelerate at the end of the work, and the whims of the characters appear to us from greed, jealousy and envy of (Saif), who turns out to be the son of the first wife and not the son of the old man.

Details appear in the plot of the story, to discover that it is all woven from the imagination, and that it is nothing but a game that the old man plays daily with her husband who has Alzheimer's, to avoid telling him that he lost his son in a tragic traffic accident.

Despite the old woman's repetition of the phrase "It seems that joy has lost its way to our home" throughout the theatrical work, she succeeds in making love and joy a title for her life with her husband, albeit through a game.

Director Samir Al Balushi spoke about his first directing experience for "Emirates Today", he said: "It is the first page for me in the world of theater directing, and I am happy that it will be the first attempt through the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater.

He added: "All my experiences were in theatrical and television acting and presentation, and I was tempted to present a directing experience through the festival, and it can be said that I learned a lot from the young people at work, everyone was supportive of me as a director, I am not the only director of work, because we worked on the principle of exchanging experiences ».

Al Balushi described the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater, organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, as a "mine for discovering young talents", looking forward to presenting more important works in the future.

He indicated that he dealt with a coherent and heavy text, and that is why he faced many challenges, especially in how to present the proposed ideas that are characterized by realism with some imagination, with the aim of giving the actor his right to physical formation on the stage, stressing that he found balance in work through calm. In the subtraction, especially since the simple theater is close to people.

For his part, writer Ahmed Al-Majed said: “Theater does not offer ready-made solutions, and the spectator must enter the theatrical game, and for this I focused, through the idea of the play, on presenting the text in the figurative space, so I entered the recipient with me in this space, until I decided to reveal all Secrets of the characters in the work.

He spoke of his admiration for the direction presented by Samir Al Balushi, especially as he relied on simplicity without being transcendent over the text, unlike many young directors who believe that "scenography" is more important than the text.

Al-Majed confirmed that his participation in the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater came after he had been absent for years, after he had participated in nine texts in the past, noting that this participation was beautiful, especially as it comes with beautiful youth energies.

Samir Al Balushi:

• “This is my first page in directing. I may stutter, but I will continue the path seriously and seriously.”

Ahmed Al Majed:

• “I liked the directing.. it relied on simplicity without transgressing the text for the sake of scenography.”

Practical seminar

Attending the applied symposium, including directors, actors and those interested in theater, praised Samir Al Balushi's first directing experience, describing it as a distinctive experience, which, although it found some errors, it succeeded in presenting the text in an interesting format.

The audience also unanimously agreed on the ingenuity of the actors in presenting characters and roles, especially Mansour Al-Matrooshi, who attracted the attention of the audience by playing the role of the thief in an elaborate manner, as he presented the character convincingly and without pretense.
