Armed with a variety of different activities, “Dubai Culture” launched the activities of the “Reading Box” initiative in “Mirdif City Center” in Dubai, and the events will continue until October 28, and the event represents a return to this annual initiative in its realistic version, after stopping due to the repercussions of the Corona virus, The event includes a large number of free activities for members of the community.

The initiative is keen on consolidating the value of reading and paying attention to instilling the habit of reading and acquiring books among members of society, especially young people, so that reading turns into a permanent societal behavior. The first officer in the Dubai Public Libraries of the "Dubai Culture", Noura Al Ghafri, told "Emirates Today": "The Reading Fund initiative is one of the (life schools) initiatives;

She revealed that "the initiative includes a variety of activities and events such as literary sessions, storytelling for children, interactive workshops that discuss important cultural issues, and other activities such as poetry and literary evenings in Arabic and English, due to our keenness to involve all segments of society of all nationalities in this community initiative that aims to build reader community.

The events include the participation of a group of writers, creators and speakers from the Emirates in dialogue sessions rich in valuable topics, in addition to poetry evenings that enrich the experience of the attendees with bouquets of the most beautiful books written by young Emirati poets, such as Badriya Al Shamsi, the youngest Emirati entrepreneur and publisher and founder of Rainbow Jamni Library and Publishing House, Al Dhabi Al Muhairi, as well as Sabah Deby, Maryam Al Jamal, Nadia Al Najjar and Maha Shehab.

Writer and lawyer Aisha Al Dhaheri also presents a workshop for the public to provide them with basic skills to write their first book, and workshops with Maryam Al Zaabi from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center on various handicrafts for grandmothers, such as embroidery, basket-making, and others, in addition to an origami-making workshop conducted by Sheikha Muhammad and Badria Obaid from the Hatta Library, and another with writer and painter Faisal Al Qasimi entitled “The Geometry of Painting” aims to identify the basic principles of portraiture.

People of determination

The initiative allocates special events for people of determination, and involves them in community events by offering a variety of workshops with the help of experienced people. Cooperation with TV theater actress Nasra Al-Maamari to present a “doll making” workshop that enables children of determination to make dolls, and a “Faces” workshop will also be presented. Take shape” as well, in which participants learn the process of shaping faces in a dramatic way - fantasy using various tools, in addition to a terrazzo molding workshop presented by creativity and innovation specialist Iman Noureddine Al-Shabrawi.
