An outbreak of avian flu was identified and confirmed in a farm in the delegated municipality of Tremblay (Maine-et-Loire), this Tuesday.

Disinfection has started and protection and surveillance zones have been set up within a radius of 10 kilometers around the infected farm.

In these areas, the movement of poultry and other captive birds is prohibited.

High mortalities in a second farm

A second farm is under surveillance.

Located in the town of Villemoisan, a broiler turkey farm recorded high mortality, raising fears of the worst.

The infection must be confirmed this Thursday.

Poultry slaughter began on Wednesday and is due to continue today.

A temporary control zone has been in place since Thursday throughout Maine-et-Loire to limit the spread of the virus.
