She was replaced with another child in the hospital.. An Italian woman finds her real family after more than thirty years

An Italian woman won compensation estimated at more than half a million dollars (half a million euros), after discovering that she had been replaced in hospital with another child, according to the British newspaper, "The Times".

Antonella, 33, had filed a civil case in the southern Italian city of Puglia, after discovering the incident that had taken place in the maternity ward of the hospital in the small town of Canossa di Puglia.

Antonella was born in June 1989, after she gave birth to a woman named Katrina, and that coincided with the birth of a woman named Loretta, a girl later named, Lorena.

Pascwadebisjli explains that the difference between the two births did not exceed ten minutes and that both women gave birth through a caesarean section, adding: "It is possible that an error occurred that resulted in the two girls being replaced, especially since they did not wear bracelets identifying them."

Antonella had a 'horrific' childhood. Her 'violent' father abandoned the family before her mother also abandoned her, leaving her to her grandparents to take care of her grandparents, who in turn sent her to a foster home before she was adopted by another family after she was 15 years old.

Antonella discovered the story of her replacement in 2012 after her "unreal mother" posted a picture of her on social media.

Because they are in a small town and people know each other, Katrina sees an amazing resemblance to Antonella and makes contact with Lorena to ask her for DNA tests.

A decade later, Antonella sued the local regional government for half a million euros, while her parents received 215,000 euros, and her biological brother Francesco received 82,000 euros.

As for Lorena, who was accidentally raised by Katrina, she was a wonderful person but her relationship with her parents was precarious, as she married at 18 and left the family home, according to the case's lawyer.

Reportedly, Lorena is now also seeking compensation for the mistake that led to her replacement.
