Petanque is no longer a prophet in his country.

According to a study by INSEE, identified by

La Provence

, the city with the largest number of public pétanque courts is… Toulouse.

The National Institute of Statistics has counted in a study devoted to public facilities 101 bowling alleys in Toulouse, that is to say a field for a little more than 4,500 inhabitants, against 77 for Marseille, that is to say one bowling alley for 11,000 inhabitants.

The homeland of petanque even ranks third, behind Reims, which totals 86 courts.

In the game of the ratio per inhabitant, the city of coronations comes out on top, with a plot of land for 2,100 inhabitants.

Paris ranks fourth with 67 installations.

Note, however, that this study does not take into account private and informal land.
