They will kill your sons

by Guillaume Perilhou, published on August 24, 2022 by Éditions de L'Observatoire.

His favorite quote:

“From the beginning I knew that dressing up like a girl and being pretty with dolls meant something that wasn't going to be easy for others, and therefore for me.

The fear I had apprehended, a fear that hurts your head so much that you want to blow it up.

Why this book?

  • Because there are frantic races in life,

races in which one exhausts oneself for fear of not succeeding, Guillaume's life is this race that the reader cannot help following in a way panting.

This first novel says a lot about its author, and it bodes well for a great career.

  • Because we can't help but think of Xavier Dolan's films

    (notably

    Mommy

) or Kevin Lambert's "electric" writing when reading this gut-wrenching novel, both the mixture of rawness and an outpouring of tenderness is mingled with it.

But perhaps these are the same feelings that animate the desire for the body and the absolute infinity of the quest for love at that age: the fear of losing oneself in reproducing a pattern that does not correspond to him, of sensing the margin as a future path and the loneliness that goes with it.

  • Because one wonders what is hidden behind

Guillaume's provocations and why he is taken away from his mother.

A solid and strong bond unites these two beings who however do not support each other.

And this link, however, is only the visible part of an old drama of which Guillaume feels at fault and which the reader will discover at the very end of the story: "I wanted to help her beg her... I would always love her that my love for she would be my single greatest love of my life.”

  • Because there is this love story, a meeting in a hostile environment,

the HP of Quimper: "We were in a safe place, for ourselves and those who worked there, we tried to keep dead from a distance but the desire to get it over with, which was claimed to be cured, was maintained by the absence of pleasure.

A lucid lover about his condition who experiences his anorexia like a torrent of mud, drowned in an endless current.

The desire to love quickly, not to get lost, with this crazy project of running away together.

  • Because there is

poetry, rock, an invigorating rhythm, a desire to live fully in Guillaume Perilhou's pen: "those who think that love at first sight is not love because we don't don't know the person you claim to be falling in love with, well I tell you False oh how false there is no greater love than ignorant love”.

Wild, sincere and hard-hitting writing: “I carry within me the strength of those who don't need it.

For a long time I thought I had paid for my freedom with theirs.

    ".

The author.

A former literary journalist, Guillaume Parilhou now works in publishing.

He signs with “They are going to kill your sons”, his first novel.

This book was read with

passion, revolt and tenderness, with a desire for freedom and love, because basically, everything in this book speaks of love, even in the darkest passages, it is only a question of that, to live intensely in a hostile environment, a literary feat!
