A twelve-year-old is said to have stolen a car in Dortmund together with four other boys, taken a spin on an inner-city motorway and caused two accidents.

He was probably traveling too fast and on Wednesday night on the port motorway first rammed the central barrier and then another car, the police said.

The group of boys between the ages of 12 and 15 then fled by car through side streets, and finally the five jumped out of the car, which was still moving, which rolled on and crashed into an off-road vehicle.

Two of the boys were therefore already caught and handed over to their parents, the others ran away in different directions.

The 20-year-old driver of the car that hit the group on the port highway drove after them after the first accident and gave the police the location.

The 12-year-old suspected driver has not yet been arrested, but according to a police spokesman, investigators know his identity.

According to the police, the stolen car is registered in Salzgitter.

It was initially unclear whether there was a connection to the Dortmund boys and why the five chose this car.

Damage to the car was around 4,000 euros.

The Kripo determined because of driving without a license and the suspicion of particularly serious theft.

According to the police, two of the boys are 12 years old, one is 15. The exact age of the other two has not yet been clarified.
