An American grandmother from Minnesota celebrated her 91st birthday by skydiving for the first time.

Ida Shannon said her skydiving plan began when friends asked, "How was she going to celebrate her 90th birthday?"

And after impressing people by going skiing at the age of 80.

“Someone asked me what I was going to do next, and without even thinking about it, I said, 'I'm just going to go skydiving,'" Shannon told WCCO-TV.

Shannon said she was surprised when her friends decided to put her plan into action.

The flight in the sky had to be postponed until her 91st birthday approached.

Shannon commented, "Life would be so boring if you didn't accept adventures. I love taking risks and I think I was born that way."

Shannon's friends came to watch the fun jump last Sunday, and one of them said, "She's like a real Superwoman.

She is strong and loves people.”

The TV channel asked Shannon if she was "worried" about the jump, and she offered his steady hand without trembling, and answered "No."

The old woman hopes that her jump will contribute to securing donations to a local hospital, on the anniversary of the death of her granddaughter from leukemia 75 years ago.
