Six authors are nominated for this year's Booker Prize:

Alan Garner - "Treacle Walker"

An unexpected friendship develops between Joe, who reads comics and collects bird eggs, and Treacle Walker, a walker who suddenly appears.

The book is described as a fable and British Alan Garner has received numerous literary awards during his long career.

Shehan Karunatilaka – "The seven moons of Maali"

A dead war photographer has no idea who killed him and must try to guide his relatives in life to a collection of secret photographs in a chaotic 90's Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunatilaka debuted in 2011 and also writes music.

NoViolet Bulawayo – "Glory"

The author grew up in Zimbabwe and moved to the United States at the age of 18.

The book's themes are power and tyranny and depicts a rebellion seen from the animals' perspective.

Claire Keegan – “Small things like these”

The book takes place in Keegan's native Ireland.

The year is 1985 and a coal and timber merchant faces his past in a small town tightly controlled by the church.

Claire Keegan has been translated into 30 languages.

Percival Everett - "The trees"

A series of murders in a small town in Mississippi, USA, is linked to the lynching of a young black man in the same town 65 years earlier.

During the investigation, the phenomenon seems to be spreading across the country.

The American author has received several awards and teaches at the University of Southern California.

Elizabeth Strout - "Oh William!"

A New York writer with two grown children has recently been widowed.

She resumes contact with her first husband.

Among other things, Elizabeth Strout has written the bestseller "Olive Kitteridge", which has also become a television series.
