Air France announced on Monday the end of the air link that the airline provided between Brest (Finistère) and Paris Orly airport (Val-de-Marne).

The company communicated the information in an e-mail addressed to the main political actors of the Breton department.

Flights operated by Transavia, a subsidiary of the carrier, will cease at the end of October, reports

.

To explain its decision, Air France highlighted the insufficient filling of the planes making the trip, evaluated at 30%.

The company also specified that the Brest – Paris Charles-de-Gaulle link remained open.

Still, the choice and the arguments of the airline do not pass with local politicians.

Didier Le Gac, Renaissance MP for Finistère denounced the format chosen to announce the information as well as flight schedules that do not correspond to the needs of passengers.

Several parliamentarians from the department have called on the Minister in charge of Transport Clément Beaune to maintain the Transavia airline or develop an alternative.
