【Ecological Focus】

  The blue sea and blue sky, the grass and trees flourish;

On the vast land, what kind of people are guarding the green waters and green mountains for us?

On September 6, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Natural Resources jointly released the list of the 2021 "Most Beautiful Nature Guardians". 9 individuals including Ma Yinguo, Ren Xiubo, Jiang Wenkai and 1 collective of the Natural Resources Registration Bureau of the Natural Resources Department of Jiangsu Province were arrested. Awarded the title of "The Most Beautiful Nature Guardian".

Among them, there are not only scientists who have made outstanding contributions, but also law enforcement workers who are fighting on the front line of cultivated land protection; there are surveyors who measure the earth with both feet and participate in the elevation measurement of Mount Everest twice, and there are marine monitors who have been sticking to the isolated island for 38 years. ; Also, the forest and grass people who have silently guarded the forest farms and nature reserves for many years...

Behind every "most beautiful nature guardian", there are countless moving stories about perseverance and dedication!

"I am reluctant to leave here, and I am even more worried about handing over the work to others"

In the early morning, wearing camouflage uniforms and yellow rubber shoes, Ma Yinguo, the former head of the Natural Resources Institute of Gaochuan Township, Anzhou District, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, set off as usual.

On this day, he and the geological disaster monitor will go to the ravine to observe the broken hillsides and riverbeds, and strengthen the early warning of geological disasters.

Near noon, he walked too far to go back, so he and fellow villagers squatted on the grass and chewed a few mouthfuls of dry food.

In the afternoon, when he returned to the township government after surveying a homestead, it was already dark. After eating in the cafeteria, he sat at his desk and filled out the "Disaster Prevention Clearance Card"... As a grass-roots natural resource person , He has gone through such days for 41 years.

Gaochuan Township is the most remote township in Anzhou, Mianyang. The mountains are high and the roads are steep, and the ravines are crisscrossed. Earth disasters hang over the heads of the local people like a sharp sword.

For decades, Ma Yinguo's footprints have been left in every corner of the mountains, rivers and ravines.

He has organized the safe transfer of more than 1,900 people, 69 cases of hedging, and successfully protected the lives and properties of about 6,000 people in the township.

Ma Yinguo had the opportunity to be transferred to Xiushui Town, where conditions are better and closer to home, but he did not leave.

"I was born and grew up in Gaochuan. I am familiar with everything here, and everyone here is familiar with me. I am reluctant to leave here, and I am even more worried about handing over my work to others."

Jiang Wenkai, a marine monitor, chose to stay because he was uneasy about his work.

Qianliyan, 93 meters above sea level, is an isolated island on the continental shelf 55 nautical miles away from Qingdao in the middle of the Yellow Sea in my country.

The island has a steep terrain, no soil, no fresh water, and no inhabitants, but there is a marine monitoring station.

Jiang Wenkai, head of the Qianliyan Marine Environmental Monitoring Station of the Beihai Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, has been there for 38 years.

Marine disaster prevention and mitigation focus on monitoring and forecasting.

The typhoons that affect the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea will be observed here in advance.

Therefore, Qianliyan was identified as the country's basic sending station, and Jiang Wenkai was the "watchman".

Since joining the job, 54-year-old Jiang Wenkai has walked around the island countless times. He only remembers the longest time he was on duty on the island for 217 days... Jiang Wenkai said that with his eyes closed, he could outline a scene on the island. Cao Yimu, especially the more than 300 steps leading to the salt-warming well and the tide-checking well, he knew exactly which pits were on them.

Every day, Jiang Wenkai regularly sends 4 times, and sends the monitored data such as tide, temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, seawater salinity and other data back to the land on time.

In the event of an earthquake or tsunami, various parameters of the seawater may change.

Therefore, no matter how big the wind and rain are, he has to record and transmit valuable data back, especially in extreme weather, "When it's time, I will go with a knife, even with my head up!"

Since it is far away from the continental shelf, the supplies on the island depend on supplies. In the event of a typhoon and heavy rain, the ship cannot come, and you will be hungry, not to mention loneliness and loneliness.

However, Jiang Wenkai believes that observation data is related to the safety of people's lives and property, and such efforts and persistence are worthwhile.

"Since you have chosen, go on without any regrets"

At 11:00 a.m. on May 27, 2020, the Everest Elevation Surveying Team successfully reached the top, which was celebrated by the whole country and attracted worldwide attention.

In order to obtain more data, the climbers worked continuously on the summit for two and a half hours, setting a record for the longest stay of the Chinese on the summit of Mount Everest.

At the base camp of Mount Everest, Ren Xiubo, director of the Office of the First Geodetic Survey Team of the Ministry of Natural Resources, held a walkie-talkie to keep in touch with the peak members.

Because he was too nervous and focused, for more than two hours, he had been on his knees and completely lost himself.

It was not until the measurement was successfully completed that he realized that his legs were already numb.

Ren Xiubo and Mount Everest became attached in 2005.

That year, my country launched a large-scale elevation survey of Mount Everest, and 25-year-old Ren Xiubo was selected for the mountaineering team.

During the survey period, he worked for 43 days in the area above 6,500 meters above sea level, and wrote the application for joining the party in the camp village at an altitude of 7,028 meters, always ready to devote himself to the surveying and mapping cause of the party and the country; In a huge snowstorm, in order to facilitate the operation of the instrument to obtain accurate data, he took off his down gloves for more than 20 minutes of surveying and mapping at the risk of amputation of both hands. At that time, it was the highest record of gravity measurement in my country.

He has been working in the field surveying and mapping field for many years, and has participated in more than 30 major national projects such as China Highway Network, National Gravity Network, and Wenchuan Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction.

Regarding his career in surveying and mapping, his confession was brief and powerful: "Since I have chosen, I will go on without any regrets."

There is also no regrets, and Yin Yueping, chief scientist of the Chinese Academy of Geological and Environmental Monitoring.

Whether it is the rescue scene in the earthquake-stricken areas such as Wenchuan and Lushan, or the disaster disposal scene such as the Three Gorges and Jinsha River, Yin Yueping is always busy.

Geological disaster prevention and mitigation work, he has been working for 40 years.

As a well-known expert in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation, he led his team to innovate and develop the theory and series of technologies for disaster prevention and mitigation in geological engineering with unique Chinese characteristics. Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award” and the highest award in the field of environmental protection in my country, “China Environment Award”; the scientific research institution of China Geological Survey, where he works, has been awarded the honor of “World Landslide Disaster Reduction Center of Excellence” four times by UNESCO and other organizations, and he also He was awarded the honorary title of "Li Siguang Scholar" by the China Geological Survey and was elected as the chairman of the International Landslide Association.

Today's Yin Yueping has embarked on a new journey - building a "safety island" for the planning and construction of major national projects.

The field of geological sciences has always been full of talents.

I can't remember how many late nights, in the small red building of the Shandong Institute of Geological Sciences, the lights of Li Dapeng's office, director of the Science and Technology Innovation Center and researcher, were always on brightly.

This is a picture of him working without sleep during the discovery of a 25-meter-thick gold ore body in the depths of Jiaodong Peninsula.

In December 2012, Li Dapeng, who received a Ph.D. from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), entered the gate of Shandong Institute of Geological Sciences.

After thinking about it again and again, he gave up the opportunity to stay in Beijing that many people yearned for, and brought his wife and children to Quancheng, just because his love was related to Sangzi and his soul was related to the mountains.

Ten years have passed, and Li Dapeng has achieved fruitful results on the road of "finding gold": in 2017, his research team successfully implemented "the first deep drilling of rock gold in China" in Wuyi Village, Laizhou, Jiaodong Province, and found it at a vertical depth of 3,000 meters. The 25-meter-thick gold ore body, with the highest grade of 13.65 g/ton, has achieved a major breakthrough in deep prospecting of gold mines in my country, and was selected as one of the "Top Ten Geological Science and Technology Progress" in the country in 2018; The discovery of "Golden Baby" 1,000 meters underground in Xicheng Town, Qixia City, known as "Jiaodong Roof", is another major discovery of innovative prospecting methods...

Although he was born in 1985, Li Dapeng had already given birth to white hair.

Facing the long-term work of running around in the wild and wearing the stars and wearing the moon, he never tired of it: "You don't know, the starry sky at 3:00 in the morning of the Academy of Geosciences is the most beautiful!"

"Protecting arable land means protecting the 'rice bowl' of the common people"

Shen Leyi, director of the Hangzhou Land Remediation Center in Zhejiang Province, is very busy and has repeatedly postponed reporters' interviews, but when he sits down to talk about his work, he is in high spirits again.

In 2015, the country carried out the demarcation of permanent basic farmland in 106 key cities, and Hangzhou was identified as a pilot city.

Shen Leyi was then the deputy director of the Land Planning and Cultivated Land Protection Division of the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, so he was obliged to gnaw on this "hard bone".

There is no experience to learn from, and we can only face difficulties and find a new way.

After thorough research, Shen Leyi innovatively proposed the "five good farmland" model with Hangzhou characteristics.

Through the joint efforts of him and his colleagues, Hangzhou has newly added a large area of high-quality cultivated land in the delineation work, so that the permanent basic farmland protection area around the city has reached 252,000 mu. Template".

In 2016, Yuhang District of Hangzhou City explored the implementation of the field chief system, and Shen Leyi became a "salesman".

He summed up Yuhang's experience and put the responsibility of farmland protection on people.

At present, the Tianchang system has become an institutional innovation that is popularized and demonstrated throughout the country.

Later, in order to make "small fields" into "large fields", Shen Leyi became a "planner" again, and actively suggested to carry out the "hundred-mu, thousand-mu, ten-thousand-mu" permanent basic farmland centralized contiguous improvement project.

"Protecting the cultivated land is to protect the 'rice bowl' of the common people." Shen Leyi said, "If you can do this well in this life, it will be worth it!"

To be a good farmland guardian, sometimes it is necessary to take thunder measures.

At 1:00 a.m. on August 10, 2020, in the dark night, a middle-aged man led a law enforcement team to the scene of sand mining.

In the face of the party's stubborn resistance, he jumped into a sand pit with a depth of more than 10 meters, swam quickly to the sand mining boat, turned off the switch, turned off the machine, and dismantled the equipment, so as to stop the illegal sand mining in time.

This man is Zhang Hui, director of the Office of Rural Disposal of Arable Land and Housing Remediation of the Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning of Luohe City, Henan Province.

In March 1997, Zhang Hui began to engage in land law enforcement and supervision.

He often led law enforcement team members to eat and live in the village, squatted on the front line, and fought against lawbreakers.

In 2016, Zhang Hui was transferred to the Zhaoling Branch of Luohe City Land and Resources Bureau as deputy director.

He took the initiative to be in charge of land law enforcement, promptly set up a law enforcement team of more than 50 people, demolished more than 30 illegal brick and tile kiln factories, more than 120 illegal buildings, and reclaimed more than 2,900 mu of land, quickly reversing the chaotic situation of local land management.

During Zhang Hui's work in the Luohe Development Zone Bureau, the local area achieved zero new illegal land occupation for four consecutive years.

In 2009, the evaluation of intensive and economical land use in the development zone ranked first in Henan Province.

In March 2021, after Zhang Hui was transferred to his current post, various evaluation indicators such as problems identified by the inspectors of Luohe City and the rectification rate of satellite films over the years ranked first in Henan Province, becoming the "zero" of newly-added illegal land use issues for 10 consecutive months. the only provincial municipality.

"I will protect the fertile soil and fertile fields under my feet with my heart and my heart." Zhang Hui, a tough guy, is sometimes full of affection.

"Leave this forest intact to the next generation"

In autumn, the Chongming Dongtan Nature Reserve in Shanghai is about to become lively.

Soon, a large number of wintering migratory birds, especially cygnets, will enjoy a comfortable migration holiday here.

In 2021, the number of 996 cygnets hit a record high in the 23 years since the reserve was established.

In this regard, Niu Dongliang, Secretary and Director of the Party Branch of Shanghai Chongming Dongtan Nature Reserve Management Center, is very pleased.

Since entering the reserve in February 2004, Niu Dongliang has become the guardian of these creatures.

In 2011, Niu Dongliang organized the law enforcement officers of the protected area, and together with the border police officers, precise control, cracked the case of poisoning the little swan, and broke a chain of evil that consists of poisoning, transportation, and sales of destroying wildlife resources.

Prevention and control of invasive alien plants is a guarding battle without gunpowder in the Dongtan Reserve.

In 2008, Niu Dongliang served as the leader of the ecological governance working group for Spartina alterniflora, leading everyone to "encircle and suppress" Spartina alterniflora on a large scale and implement the fourth phase of the ecological governance pilot project.

The hard work pays off. In the Dongtan ecological restoration project implementation area, the growth and expansion of Spartina alterniflora have been successfully controlled, the indigenous plants have recovered well, and the ecological benefits have been significantly enhanced.

In Xinghe County, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, there is also a home for wild animals - Sumushan Forest Park, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Unexpectedly, this largest artificial forest farm in North China was actually a barren hill with no grass a few decades ago.

The change is inseparable from the diligence, wisdom and sweat of the local people, especially Dong Hongru, the former head of the Sumushan Forest Farm and "The Yugong".

In 1958, the 19-year-old Dong Hongru came to the Sumushan Forest Protection Station.

The water and soil here have a strange temper. Whether poplar, birch, apricot, or elm, they are stunned.

For more than 10 years, Dong Hongru took his employees to search and study, and repeatedly groped, and finally planted more than 1,200 mu of North China larch on Sumu Mountain.

The following year, the larch pulled out new shoots, and the survival rate was over 90%.

By 1980, the afforestation area of Sumushan had reached more than 100,000 mu, more than 80,000 mu had survived, and the output value was more than 300 million yuan.

In 1965, Dong Hongru's fourth child was born, named "Cun Zhan".

In 2008, as his father expected, Dong Cunzhan transferred back to Sumushan Forest Farm without hesitation.

"The parents planted trees here, and we started to protect the trees from our generation. We will hand over this forest to the next generation." Dong Cunzhan said.

Today, Sumushan has become a national standard ecological public welfare forest demonstration base.

After retiring, Dong Hongru still returns to the forest farm every year, and calls the forest rangers and firefighters on the mountain from time to time to warn him. Obviously, Su Mushan has become a permanent concern in his heart.
