EDF Hydro, operator of the dams in the Lot and Truyère valleys, wanted to be reassuring about the situation in Aveyron in terms of water during the winter of 2022-2023.

The group is preparing "with complete peace of mind" to spend the cold season, its communication department told Center Presse Aveyron.

The volume of water stored in the reservoirs of the Montézic station only reaches 51% of the maximum capacity after a summer marked by extreme heat and drought.

This is nine points less than the same period in 2021. The month of July 2022 was the driest month known in France since 1959.

EDF Hydro, however, highlighted its "fine and careful management" of water to explain its confidence.

Despite the weather conditions, the company was pleased to have been able to prepare for energy production this winter while meeting the needs of most tourist uses during the summer.
