Android Warning: Delete these apps

The SharkBot malware is back in the Google Play Store and could give hackers full access to your bank account.

The cybercriminals used a deceptive tactic to get around Google's strong security, as the apps in question are only infected by the SharkBot after they are downloaded to the device.

According to "RT" and "Express".

Once installed, this bug can withdraw funds from bank accounts and overlay fake login pages when it detects that a user is trying to access online services allowing hackers to steal usernames and passwords.

SharkBot last appeared in March, and now two apps are using it again to attack Android phones.

The team at Fox-IT discovered that the apps called Mister Phone Cleaner and Kylhavy Mobile Security were both infected with malware.

"This new version of the victim is asking to install malware as a fake antivirus update to stay protected from threats," said Alberto Segura of Fox-IT.

We found two active SharkbotDopper apps on the Google Play Store, with 10,000 and 50,000 installs each.

On August 22, 2022, Fox-IT's Threat Intelligence team found a new Sharkbot model with version 2.25.

And if you think you downloaded this app, be sure to delete it without delay and check any permissions you might have given it.
