To demand rehousing solutions for 80 poorly housed families, some of them and activists from the DAL38 association (Right to housing) occupy a former school in Grenoble (Isère) which belongs to the town hall, reports France Bleu Isère , sunday.

Before that, the families had moved into premises loaned by the municipality for the summer, but the latter took them back.

On August 29, members of the association and some claimants had already gathered in front of the prefecture to demonstrate.

A temporary solution

According to the association and the persons concerned, the occupation of the old school is only a temporary measure.

"It's not a solution, it's just a way to get organized," said a member of the DAL38.

“The majority, if not all, have rights to enforceable, priority accommodation,” reacted the representative of the families.

“No formalism, but to investigate the files, a minimum of elements are needed […] Without this minimum of factual elements, no file can be instructed”, retorted the prefecture.

A complaint was also lodged by the town hall against the association because the latter had refused to allow social workers to meet the families.
