Books reading group, recommends

Jefferson does his best

by Jean-Claude Mourlevat, published on August 18, 2022 by Éditions Gallimard Jeunesse.

His favorite quote:

You should know that in the land of animals, each species was somehow dedicated to a profession.

The police and gendarmes were almost all Danish dogs;

the horses and mares were journalists;

badgers were either hairdressers or teachers;

the photographers were all cats and if you went to see a doctor, you had a nine out of ten chance of running into a sheep or a sheep.

Why this book?

  • Because Jefferson Bouchard from La Poterie is back

    for a new adventure, always in excellent company.

    After an absolutely brilliant first volume, Jean-Claude Mourlevat brings his characters from animal country back to life and offers us an exciting new investigation that can be read independently of the first volume (but that would be a shame because it is simply excellent!).

    The latter has notably received numerous prizes such as the Prix des Inco, the Quais du thriller prize or the Quebec booksellers prize.

  • Because our favorite hedgehog will once again

    return to the human world to help Simone, the lonely and shy rabbit encountered in the previous game.

    The latter has left, leaving behind a mysterious letter and, our hero is convinced, she is in terrible danger.

    Armed with his courage and his big heart, Jefferson will not hesitate, once again, to put himself in danger out of friendship and empathy.

  • Because Jefferson is as always accompanied

    by his best friend Gilbert, who has become a heating engineer.

    Aboard the latter's tired van, the duo will leave for Morgivre, among humans, accompanied by two former companions of the Ballardeau trip.

    The dynamic of this shock team is both tender and comical and meeting them was a real pleasure.

    The hardest part, in the end, was to finish this ecological, humanist and fantastic fable and to leave them...

  • Because Jean-Claude Mourlevat gives us,

    through the adventures of this courageous hedgehog, accessible thrillers, original and very funny, conveying relevant observations on serious subjects such as animal cruelty, the recruitment of the most vulnerable or even mourning.

    Adopting the animal point of view to denounce human stupidity is not only brilliant but also gently conveys strong messages to younger readers.

  • Because

    Jefferson does his best

    offers several levels

    of reading and will appeal to children and adults alike.

    Embellished with black and white illustrations by Antoine Rozon, this novel is a marvel of intelligence, humor and a certain poetry.

    The pen removed from the author is full of humanity and intelligence in this new investigation full of twists and turns.

    I recommend this read 100%;

    you will not regret the trip to the land of animals!

This book was read with

pleasure by Anne-So Echos de Mots, blogger specializing in children's and teenage literature.

“For me, reading can be as much a personal pleasure in which one runs to take refuge as an excuse to discuss and meet other readers.

I am a lover of words always interested in new discoveries.
