"More peaceful, more respectful celebrations, despite an increase in attendance", this is the assessment made by the sub-prefect of the city after the Bayonne 2022 celebrations, interviewed by France Bleu.
Indeed, the town hall has 1.1 to 1.2 million people, an increase of 15% compared to the 2019 edition, with 180,000 to 250,000 people depending on the day.

Despite this good atmosphere, some acts of violence have nevertheless been reported.
Thus, a rape was committed on the night of Thursday to Friday, according to France Bleu, which specifies that the perpetrators were arrested.
In addition, four complaints were filed for acts of violence, including a knife wound.
In total, the authorities recorded 210 criminal acts, including 17 purse robberies and 137 mobile phone thefts.
124 people also complained of bites, and 60 of them filed a complaint.
Finally, of the 1,662 blood alcohol screenings carried out by the police mobilized for the occasion, 72 turned out to be positive.
