Sweden was the first country in the world to recognize gender dysphoria, the malaise caused by the mismatch between biological sex and gender identity.

Since then, she has been offering treatments to support transgender people in their approach: becoming a man when you are born in a woman's body, or vice versa, and this from the age of 16, or even earlier.

However, the most prestigious hospital in Sweden, the Karolinska, a pioneer in these treatments, decided last March to deprive those under 18 –

we are of course talking about new patients

– of hormones or surgery.

Doctors argue in favor of a precautionary principle, while associations for the defense of trans people denounce a decline.
