After requesting "crimes"... Is it permissible to broadcast the execution of the killer of Naira Ashraf on the air?

The Mansoura Criminal Court, which issued the death sentence against Muhammad Adel, the killer of Naira Ashraf, a student at Mansoura University, demanded that the legislator issue an amendment that would allow the publication and public broadcast of the execution of the death sentence, even if part of the beginning of the implementation.

The court’s request is based on the inadmissibility of broadcasting the death sentence, as stipulated in Article 474 of the Code of Criminal Procedure: “The execution of the death sentence is a special procedure for executing the sentence in a public prison, in the presence of an agent of the Public Prosecutor, the prison warden, the prison doctor or any other doctor. He is sent to prison."

According to the "Masrawy" website, broadcasting the death sentence on the air requires the issuance of new legislation from the House of Representatives, with the approval of the President of the Republic, to broadcast the execution on television.

The website stated that the law specifies only 3 persons who are entitled to attend during the execution of the death sentence, according to the text of Article 474 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the execution of the death sentence is a special procedure for executing the sentence in a public prison, in the presence of an agent of the Public Prosecutor, the prison warden, and the prison doctor. or any other physician assigned to the prison.

Those who are allowed to attend the execution of the death penalty are also the lawyer of the accused, and a representative of the religious authority, according to the religion of the convict.

The website pointed out that “No one other than the persons allowed by law to attend the execution of the death sentence, except after a special permission from the Public Prosecution, and the defender of the convicted person must always be authorized to attend, and the death sentence pronounced and the accusation for which he is sentenced shall always be permitted to the convict in The place of execution is within the hearing of those present, and if the convict wishes to express his statements, the Public Prosecutor’s deputy shall write a report thereon.

The law also prohibited the execution of death penalty measures against convicts during official holidays or religious holidays.

The text of the law urged delaying the execution of the death penalty for a pregnant woman, provided that the sentence be carried out two months after giving birth.

The death sentence shall not be executed unless a lawyer on behalf of the accused and the Public Prosecution appeals against the judgment issued against him within 60 days from the date of the issuance of the judgment, and that the death penalty is only implemented with the approval of the President of the Republic within 15 days.
