The country's authority for youth and culture has announced that "Lightyear" is banned because it "violates the country's guidelines regarding media content", this as the film contains a scene where two animated female characters kiss each other.

The United Arab Emirates, like many countries in the Middle East, is a Muslim nation that forbids same-sex relationships.

The penalty is imprisonment for between 10 and 14 years.

"Lightyear" has a budget of 200 million dollars and premieres in Sweden on Wednesday.

The film is expected to hit box office and gross $ 100 million already during the premiere week.
