A person releases hundreds of cockroaches in a New York court

A court in upstate New York has been closed for disinfection, after hundreds of cockroaches were released into it during a fight that broke out in a courtroom.

The clash erupted during proceedings in Albany City Court between four people, who were arrested at the state capitol.

During the trial proceedings, one of the defendants filmed the proceedings and the courtroom asked him to stop.

But a brawl ensued, during which hundreds of cockroaches that were brought into the courtroom were released into plastic containers, it was revealed.

An investigation will be conducted into the process of disrupting the work of the court, especially since the court was closed for the rest of the day, with the aim of fumigation and disinfecting it from cockroaches.

Court officers also arrested a 34-year-old woman in attendance on charges related to the altercation, including "disorderly conduct, obstruction of government administration and tampering with physical evidence."

"What happened is not an advocacy or an ordinary activity, it is criminal behavior with the intent of disrupting procedures and causing harm," a court statement said.
