Saudi expert: We have a third of a million monkeys, and the only solution in our war with them is to "kill them with kindness"!

Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad, a professor of climate at the Saudi University of Qassim (formerly), founder and head of the Committee for the Nomenclature of Distinguished Climatic Conditions, said that the radical solution to the problem of monkeys in Saudi Arabia is to reduce their numbers to about 90%, and return them to what they were about 50 years ago.

?

Al-Misnad reviewed in an article published by the Saudi website “Sabq” entitled “Our war with monkeys, when does it ignite?! The problem and the solution, saying: Baboons live in Saudi Arabia in semi-arid areas, as in the Sarawat Mountains, specifically in six Saudi regions, and that In the heights of: Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, and a few of them in the Hijaz Mountains in the south of the Medina region.

Al-Misnad pointed out in his article that they move collectively during the day up to 40 to 100 monkeys in one herd, and the female gives birth after 160 days of pregnancy, and the female gives birth to one boy every two years, and the number in Saudi Arabia is estimated at more than a third of a million monkeys, It lives in semi-desert lands with scarce rain and poor trees.

Al-Misnad said: "Perhaps some specialists and observers are reluctant to choose killing as an applied solution in this regard! Noting that the mechanism of restoring the ecological balance of the place through protection, multiplication or killing is in place internationally, and the Australians have begun to kill camels for environmental reasons, as they claim. We also have to get rid of 90% of the monkeys are environmentally legitimate, until we restore their number to its natural state, especially since the monkeys in Saudi Arabia are doing their harm and threatening the security of society and the safety of people. And the wise street commanded us to kill the five immoral people.”

Al-Misnad explained that the increase in the number of monkeys is a natural issue.

As they are not hunted by humans, and there is no animal that feeds on them as in the ancient Arab tiger, and there are few hyenas and wolves in their areas, in addition, they found their food almost ready, and it is available in landfills in cities, governorates and villages, and what tourists sometimes throw at them .

?

Al-Misnad continued that "despite the large number of committees, studies, and reports directed at solving the problem of monkeys in Saudi Arabia for several years, the problem has not been resolved, but rather aggravated, and so far we have not seen the results of previous studies on the reality."

He added: Most of what I have seen from the opinions of some specialists is that the citizen contributed to the spread of the problem of monkeys in Saudi Arabia by feeding them!

I think that if this is true, does this mean that the problem is allowed to spread in this way, despite its environmental, social, health, economic and security damages as well.

?

Al-Misnad stated that throwing the problem at the citizen as if he were the cause, and not taking quick and effective action to stop the encroachment of monkeys on cities, villages and farms, and attacking the population and its property is surprising!!

Dr. "Al-Misnad" indicated that monkeys are intelligent creatures and dealing with them should be taken into consideration, as they steal, kidnap, attack, climb homes, cause panic, spoil crops, and lose trusts and municipalities by scattering waste...etc.

I suggest that the radical solution is to reduce their numbers to about 90%, and to return them to what they were about 50 years ago;

As it is also an environmental imbalance that more than a third of a million monkeys live in semi-desert lands... Therefore, I stress that the solution is to get rid of them, and I leave the method and method to the forensic and environmental specialists.
