Nicolas Sarkozy was Sunday the guest of Didier Barbelivien on Europe 1, in his program "Tell me what you sing".

The former President of the Republic evokes, via a selection of songs of his own, several stages of his life.

And especially when Thierry Le Luron organized a show for him and helped him organize a meeting.

INTERVIEW

It's a little-known friendship.

But Nicolas Sarkozy and Thierry Le Luron knew each other well.

To the point that the comedian organized a show for the future President of the Republic, and even contributed to the success of one of his very first political meetings.

Two anecdotes that Nicolas Sarkozy tells on Sunday on Europe 1, on the occasion of his invitation to Didier Barbelivien's program

Tell me what you sing.

Invited to choose five songs, Nicolas Sarkozy selects in particular

, by Thierry Le Luron.

"He is someone I loved and respected a lot, who is a man who has burned his life at both ends. But I have rarely seen someone so talented, d 'as magnificent", explains the former President of the Republic.

"I didn't know where to put myself!"

"I wanted to give you listeners the extraordinary gift of this title which is not known", he continues at the microphone of Europe 1. "I saw it very often on stage. We were friends, we were celebrating together. I was very young at the time, I was starting out in politics, and Thierry was very interested in politics. He ended his show in a moving way: throughout the show he had imitated the voices of others and, end, this little guy took everything and sang with his own voice

, a magnificent text.

The selection of this song by Thierry Le Luron is also, for Nicolas Sarkozy, the opportunity to evoke two memories of his friend.

Starting with the time when the comedian offered him an atypical gift: "I'll give you the whole theater on the Champs-Elysées, you invite whoever you want and I'll do a free show for you."

"I had crowded the theater with inhabitants of Neuilly", remembers the former mayor of the city of Hauts-de-Seine.

"Thierry did all the show on the great love story between the young Sarko and Alice Sapritch. I no longer knew where to put myself!", Nicolas Sarkozy laughs.

"Poor Alice Sapritch, who was very nice, ended up taking it badly that he imitated her from start to finish."

But the comedian also allowed Nicolas Sarkozy to succeed in one of the very first meetings for which he was responsible.

In 1975, Jacques Chirac, then Prime Minister, asked him if he could bring together 5,000 young people.

"I said yes, I was unconscious", analyzes Nicolas Sarkozy.

To attract crowds, the politician then chose to invite three artists: the singer Nicolas Peyrac, Joëlle of the duo "Once upon a time", and his friend Thierry Le Luron.

Thanks to their presence, the challenge launched by Jacques Chirac to Nicolas Sarkozy is taken up: the hangar at Le Bourget reserved for the occasion is full.

"I spoke, Chirac made his speech. And after we celebrated with the three artists", remembers the guest of Didier Barbelivien.
