Upside-down swastikas were discovered painted white on the facade of a halal butcher's shop ravaged by a fire of probably "criminal" origin, on the night of Saturday to Sunday in Bon-Encontre in the agglomeration of 'Agen (Lot-et-Garonne), we learned from the Agen prosecutor's office.
The fire, which mobilized 16 firefighters, completely destroyed the interior of this medium-sized 500 m2 area housing a restaurant, an oriental grocery store and a halal butcher, which had opened its doors at the end of 2021, in a commercial area of the town of Bon-Encontre.
"No particular problem around the opening of trade"
"There was no particular problem around the opening of this trade," added the same source to the prosecution.
The prosecution announced that it had opened an investigation for "destruction by means dangerous for people", with the aggravating circumstance that the facts were committed "because of race, ethnicity, origin or religion" .
The judicial police and the urban security brigade of Agen were seized of the investigations because of the “criminal” qualification of the facts.
